I was conversing with Bill Nunn, one of our stone star painting specialists, and my eyes laid on his rich (and exquisitely beat-up) seat. He generally has it with him, so I got some information about it.
Twenty or more years back, he set out to outline a definitive painter's seat. It must be light, so he picked pine. It should have been the right tallness to remain on for high brush work and, obviously, to sit on for breaks. It must be anything but difficult to move, so he gave it a handle.
At that point it must be anything but difficult to pull through incalculable entryways while he met expectations. That called for bended stretchers so he could serenely tuck it under his arm.
